OSHA and ASME Compliant Crane Inspections

Annual Inspection Program

D&S Industrial Contracting can provide your facility with OSHA required annual crane inspections. The crane inspections are performed by "Certified Crane Inspectors" all of whom have a minimum of 2000 field inspection hours and have successfully passed all certification exams. These Thoroughly trained, tested and qualified inspectors evaluate all crane components.

  • Inspect the wire rope and end connections for any signs of kinking, crushing, cutting, bird-cagging, corrosion, reduced diameter or any other unusual wear. Check for proper reeving and lubrication.
  • Inspect the load block and hook for wear, bending, twisting, cracks, grooves, and throat opening.
  • Inspect the external parts of the hoist, trolley, framework, catwalk, handrails, etc., for broken parts, misalignment, broken welds, excessive wear, or any unusual conditions.
  • Open control boxes and check all contactors, relays, timers and other electrical components, for wear, proper operation, loos/broken connections, etc...
  • Inspect safety devices, i.e. limit swithces, etc., for proper operation.
  • Inspect motors,couplings and wiring for wear, deterioration and proper operation
  • Visually inspect runway rails or beams for general conditions and properly installed safety equipment, end stops, rail bolts/clips, anticollision devices, etc.
  • Check load brake for proper operation
  • Inspect motor brake for proper operation and air gap adjustment
  • Inspect main power system for collector shor condition, festoon condition, etc., for signs of arcing or wear
  • Inspect all oil/lube resrvoir lovels and check for leakage. Visual inpsection of gearboxes
  • Check entire unit for proper control operation and pendant lableling
  • Inspect the sheaves, drums, wheels and bearings for general condition and lubrication

OSHA Periodic 1910.179

D & S Industrial Contracting offers an anual compliance crane inspection program based on OSHA regulation 1910.179. This 3 part inspection - functional testing, operating mechanisms, and visual checking - maks sure your equipment is safe and gives you documentation that your equipment is in compliance with current OSHA regulations for lifting equipment.

D& S Industrial Contracting will provide you with OSHA required documentation regarding your equipment's compliance with regulations. Each item will be marked as one of the following: Satisfactory, Deficiency, Recommendation, or Not Applicable.
